recap of last year by HakFocus:
Our featured producer for this months Freedom Cypher is SelfServ from Lynn, MA! If you're not familiar with his name, maybe you've heard of the producer super crew he's part of... Beat Tape Bullies. As you listen to his sound you understand what that really means. About his style of production he says, "I'm just trying to keep it original and create in a more experimental approach. Eventually I want to bring in the live instruments." When I asked him if there are any artists in MA he would like to work with he mentioned "Reks, Termanology and M Dot." Self Serv is currently working on his first EP which is titled "Off The Grid" so be on the lookout for that.
Get tuned in to his sound and come experience it live at the Freedom Cypher at it's new home at the Democracy Center from 7-10pm. Self Serve will be bangin out beats live on the MPC for the MC's to rock to. Freestyles and writtens are welcome. Just come with your best! Vendors can contact email@example.com for more info.

Big Brotha Sadi (Lynn, MA Wreck Shop Ambassador) came to build! Using spoken words and rhythmic prose he's known most for educating and entertaining crowds with his charismatic performance.
Another Lynn, MA representative Tony Moreaux with his new video for "Sign Here" which he also produced himself. It took a few listens for this track to grow on me but the beat made me want to listen a few more times and now I gotta say I really appreciate the whole track. Ill visuals too by Ankit Bagchi of Delta 9.
Stay tuned for more Tony Moreaux because he's got some things in the works, some of which includes working with Hellrazah and Skyzoo.
Iraq war veteran Denis Reynoso was murdered in his home by Lynn Police. The police had entered Mr Reynosos home without a warrant where there is no guns or drugs or anything illegal, yet make the claim that Mr. Reynoso attempted to grab an officers gun in a struggle inside the home. So they shot him in front of his young son. Hold on, lets rewind that....They entered the home and claimed Mr. Reynoso tried to grab an officers gun during a struggle. There are missing pieces of the puzzle and those pieces are in the minds of the officers who were present.
Here's a few questions I have:
How and why did the police enter the home? How did the altercation occur? Why did they feel they had to shoot him instead of using non lethal force? Is there an investigation taking place independent of the department that is under investigation?
This is a service member of the military who believed his service was to protect the rights of people in America. This is not only tragic but it raises many questions as to how is this method of policing actually protecting and serving the people? This whole story is disturbing and I can't even imagine the pain his family and friends must feel. As a human being I know this isn't right. If you aren't familiar with the story you can get tuned in by visiting the links below.
