January 11, 2020, 7pm Dorchester Art Project 1486 Dorchester Ave, Boston Into the Wiild: Answering Why the Wild Things Are, is a multimedia gallery exhibition to be shown at the Dorchester Art Project in January of 2020. The show is a deeper explorative dive on Cliff Notez' second full-length Studio Album, 'Why the WIld Things Are', released September 11, 2019. The show is an immersive dive into an imaginary world created by our protagonist, Leon, as they confront their repressed emotions of anger, frustration, anxiety, and depression. In experiencing this show, audiences will be encouraged to explore the impact trauma, oppression, and racial injustice on the mental health of people of color. This show will artistically and sonically explore themes of mental health as it relates to the experiences of a person of color unveiling their own identity through expression of self, defining independence and challenging of authority. The show's goal is to both begin and continue conversations about acceptance of themes of exploration of self-care and healing, and rediscovery of Black Joy. This show will feature original paintings, sculptures, multimedia works, soundscapes, and interactive art from Cliff Notez and a curated list of Local Boston Artists including a Call for Art. Confirmed artists for the show are Nicholas Antonio Rodriguez-Martin, Make Art & Cry, Chanel Theravil, Dubem Okafor and more to be added. The Gallery will be open between January 11th and February 9th. Throughout its an exhibition, events will be held both during and outside of Dorchester Art Projects gallery Hours. Events will include performances from local artists, screenings and workshops of films addressing the relative content of the show, guest lectures, and gallery tours with the arts and guest artists. It is my hope that with these experiences and original artwork, audiences will have the opportunity to explore and unpack this wild experiences.
