The Stew focuses on being the first music producer beat battle game show. By creating opportunities for both seasoned sound smiths and new-to-the-game beat makers, the showcase presents a chance to share a stage, network, gain exposure and battle for cash/prizes.
Our developmental music producer platform was established in 2013 by Boston based brands STAE TRU® & Authentic Lifestyle. The showcase places extra emphasis on the creative side of music production through its clever challenges and untraditional beat battle structure.
Our platform welcomes all skill sets and offers chances to those who are willing to step up and be heard. With live beat making, our #OpenKitchen (producer open mic) and special music performances, we aim to change the way beat battles are experienced whether you are in the crowd or behind a drum machine fixed on winning this year’s championship title!

The Brooklyn-based MC earned his stripes as one of the most lyrically-gifted, socially aware and politically insightful rappers to emerge in the last 20 years.
“I’m a touring artist. I’m an artist that’s internationally known. I’m not just a local artist at this point in my career. I’m cognizant of the fact that what I do is beyond where it started. I’m trying to reach the apex of where I am now, but without turning my back on or dismissing what I’ve done before.”
After nearly 20 years of releasing mesmerizing music, Talib Kweli stands as one of the world’s most talented and most accomplished Hip Hop artists. Whether working with Mos Def as one-half of Black Star, partnering with producer Hi-Tek for Reflection Eternal, releasing landmark solo material or collaborating with Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Just Blaze, J Dilla, or Madlib, Kweli commands attention by delivering top-tier lyricism, crafting captivating stories and showing the ability to rhyme over virtually any type of instrumental.
In 2011, Kweli founded Javotti Media, which is self-defined as “a platform for independent thinkers and doers.” Kweli has set out to make Javotti Media (which released his 2011 album, Gutter Rainbows, and is named after his paternal grandmother) into a media powerhouse that releases music, films and books.
NIKO IS… EVERYTHING
Music goes through many ups and downs…Moments when artists are inspiring and innovative, and moments when the industry is creatively stagnant. NIKO IS one of those musicians that restores your faith in the artistry of music. In an age where everyone is ‘trying’ to be different; Niko isn’t trying at all, he just IS.
Nikolai Paiva (NIKO IS) was born in Rio de Janeiro and moved to Florida at the age of 7. Niko has managed to create a distinctive sound and style that gained him recognition as a notable songwriter, witty lyricist, visionary and exceptional freestyer. NIKO IS, is a conceptual idiom symbolizing the many personas and identities one experiences and is reflected through his albums. NIKO IS’ recently (March 10, 2014) released his 1st compilation of 2014 “Good Blood”, a precursor to his long awaited BRUTUS LP.
The title is the literal English translation of the Brazilian term, ‘Sangue Bom’. Good Blood is mostly produced by Thanks Joey apart from a cut by Krikos and a self-produced NIKO IS record. Thanks Joey invokes the continuously evolving Brazilian sample-heavy style of hip hop production, for which he has become known for. The up and coming wordsmith is fresh off forging an alliance with industry veteran Talib Kweli and his Javotti Media imprint, alongside DJ Smallz and his Southern Smoke brand. With this sort of backing and a relentless ethic to get better with every release, 2014 will be nothing short of spectacular for the big haired Brazilian.
Come turn up for the third volume of ONE at ONCE Somerville, hosted by BLNC. Anyone who has been to volumes one and two knows how much this show has grown, so let's level up again.
