If you haven't heard his name or his music before, then allow me to introduce ya'll to Venomous2000, who's going to be performing at The Formula 9 in Boston, on Sept 30th with DJ Priority. Check out this video first to let ya ears and eyes get familiar, then take a few minutes to read the interview.  Justice: Peace Venomous! Thanks for taking some time to do this interview. We look forward to seeing you rock the stage at The Formula 9 at Church of Boston on Sept 30th but first I wanted to familiarize the people out here a bit more with your music and what you're about before you get here. So let's start with your name and where you're from. Venomous: The Name is Venomous2000 TheUltraEmcee and i'm from Passaic, NJ Justice: What's the meaning behind Venomous2000 and when did you choose that name? Venomous: The name is actually taken from an idea my cousin had with some of his old rhyme partners. Back in 1994/95 my cousin Starwalker/Sil linked with some emcees/producers from the South Jersey and Philly scene. Together they came up with a group name Deadly Snakes. I was there during the beginning of it, sitting in studio sessions, watching him design logos and artwork for the projects, and just watching the growth of it as they were signed to Tommy Boy records. They released a single in 1996 and was featured on the Black Mask soundtrack and he designed the vinyll cover for it. They all had snake names and were constantly making Venomous, references. I told him I wanted to be down with the crew, but he just told me get your skills up and grow into your own style and maybe down the line things will work it out. I decided to not take a snake name like everyone else in the crew had, but I would just use the Venomous title and show why it fit me. So I came up with an acronym for it... Very Energetic New-Being(Nubian) On Mics Opening Universal Sounding.. V.E.N.O.M.O.U.S. I added the 2000 for some new millenium appeal since it was 1995/96 and everyone was talking about new world order and y2k...so I figured the 2000 would just show that I'm relevant for this time. I added the UltraEmcee part on a little while after that just to further define myself from what the Deadly Snake crew members were doing...Its funny because aside from my cousin and maybe one other member of the crew, I never truly got a chance to really let them hear anything I was working on or was capable of. Makes me think what would have happened if I would have molded in their come up...  Justice: So far every track and project I've heard from you is dope! You have a great ear for selecting beats, you're lyrics are on point and your flow captivates full attention. There's not a ton of artists who are that consistent with dopeness so I salute you for that. That "Still Connected" album you did wit Kingshon is mega dope too! There's so many soulful, meaningful tracks, especially "Soul Journey" and "Open Doors". Including that album, how many albums in total have you put out digitally or physically? Venomous: I currently have about 8-9 albums up on I-Tunes, Amazon, Bandcamp, and my own person website. Justice: Where can people get easy access to listen to or buy your music right now? Venomous: People can go directly to my website www.Venomous2000.com first and foremost, or they could go to http://venomous2000.bandcamp.com/ and pick up some singles and albums there too. Or they could always just google in the name Venomous2000 and check the catalog there too.  Justice: Arre you working on any projects right now or are you more focused on promoting your current release? Venomous: I'm in the process of wrapping up the next album with DJ Priority entitled "Pre-Legendary Status" that include features from Inspectah Deck, The Cella Dwellas, The Artifacts, Tiye Phoenix, Shabaam Sahdeeq, Masai Bey, Fes Taylor and more. I also have an album with DJ Layzee D out of the U.K.entitled Path Of Light, that we're waiting to get the remainder of the album cover artwork done. There are a few other things i'm working on too. An album with Cymarshall Law, we have about 15 tracks done so far. And a ton of collaborations with various producers and emcees from France to South Africa and back to the States.  Justice: I know recently you put out a really dope track, "No Coast" featuring Haze from MAIN AIM, and produced by DJ Manipulator, both from Massachusetts. How did you guys all connect? Venomous: Well I first connected with DJ Manipulator through DJ Priority. He let me hear one of his other releases. As soon as I heard his production, I immediately wanted to work with him on something. He sent me some beats after I established contact and wrote to a few, but never got a chance to lay anything down until recently. We both agreed that we should work on an EP 5-6 songs and see what we could eventually do with it. I told him I wanted to link with one of his dopest emcees from the Boston area, and he put me in contact with Haze. From the beginning, Haze and I clicked. I told him the concept, sent my reference and the rest is history! We'll be doing a lot more music.  Justice: The word is, you're coming to Boston early on Sept 30th to film some scenes for a music video with Haze as well. When can people expect that video to come out? Venomous: As soon as my company www.V2Gphotography.com finishes up the editing. I was looking to shoot that sunday and work on it that week...Hopefully by mid-October before our tour in France/Belgium. Manipulator and I don't have a date set on when we're going to finish the EP, so it'll be one of those things where we will just drop tracks/videos out on heads, like BOOM! Justice: Besides Haze and DJ Manipulator, who are some other artists or producers you've worked within the past few months? Venomous: I've been rather busy these past few months. I've gotten a chance to jump on project that El Da Sensei is working on with DJ MentPlus. I've done a few tracks with my man Mr.Fickle. I shot a video with my man SpitShine out of Canada. I linked with U.K. producer HandBook and we've gotten some great buzz with our track "Analyze". I received some production from super dope producer Repeat Pattern out of Japan. I've laid tracks with an army of producers out of Europe that include Kyo Itachi, DJ Profecy, The Machinist, Astronote, Seb, DJ Keal, Reclord Records, The Waxaholics, BuckOner, NonStopHipHop, and a bunch more. I'm also in the process of working on a project with El Da Sensei, Scienz of Life, and Cymarshall. It will be a dope collaboration project with us core Jersey Emcees. There's a ton of other things that'll manifest very shortly as well.  Justice: Are there any more artists or producers in Massachusetts that you've worked with or would like to work with? Venomous: None aside from the ones mentioned. It would be an honor to rock a funky fresh cut with Ed O G, produced by DJ Manipulator..word up. We may have to make that happn soon. Justice: Have you ever performed in Boston before? Venomous: I've never rocked in Boston, so i'm looking forward to this show! It should be really dope from the footage I've seen.  Justice: What's the Hip Hop scene like in New Jersey? Venomous: I'm thinking the scene in Jersey is the scene as everywhere else. You have your 'underground' hiphop heads, your 'commercial' Hip Hop heads, and then your 'battle scene' Hip Hop heads. Everyone intermingles and cross paths and all, but it's a very non-collective set of movements taking place. I feel like Jersey artists feel like they've been slept on so long by other cities and states, that they kind of walk with a chip on their shoulder. This could be good or bad, but most times i think it causes artists to develop the 'do for self' mentally, which doesn't bring the Jersey scene closer together but rather pushes it further apart. Don't get me wrong, its not like heads "never" get together and make dope events or rock dope shows or rock dope tracks together, I just think with all the little/big cities spread throughout the state, there's a lot of clique mentalities floating around. Between Newark, Paterson, Jersey City,Elizabeth, Passaic, Rahway, New Brunswick, Plainfield, Willingboro, Trenton, Camden, A.C., Asbury Park and so many others, alot of people are still on this "MY CITY" is better than yours. Honestly, I'm at a point where I don't care WHERE you're from...lets make classics, lets make good music, lets make people listen..simple and plain. Its not where you're from, its where you're at. Justice: Who in your area for MC's and producers would you like to see get more shine? Venomous: I'm just going to drop a list of names for people to check out... Justice: I also know that DJ Priority is your main DJ so can you tell me how you two connected? Venomous: Well myself and Dj Priority have a bunch of mutual friends to start with. I first heard his production through his Beat Cinema albums he used to put out. All the tracks were named after movie titles. I heard a few and asked if I could get down on one. One track turned to two, two tracks turned to three, and the next thing you know...we're like 7 songs deep on an album... Literally it happened just like that. The chemistry was just there and we've been moving forward ever since. Justice: You've been state to state and even country to country so what's that experience been like? Venomous: Well the beginning of the traveling is actually starting back up again. Traveling to perform in different areas is always good man. I feel like that's the true testament of where stand as a performing artists. If a person can impress people that have never heard of them before, then that's a very special thing indeed. That's the focus right now. One city, one country, one fan at a time. Building self in the process. Justice: Where was your favorite place to visit? So far..hahaha Toronto, Canada...oh we had quite a time up there...crazy experiences...we'll build about that soon. Venomous: Who are some artists that you've been listening to the most frequently? Right now...I've been kinda on some nostalgia..but new heads that kinda made me listen a little more than most I would say Reks, JoeyBadass, John Robinson keep me motivated, Blu.  Justice: I know you're also a photographer because I saw some of your great work on your website so now knowing you run your own business I wanted to ask you when did you decide to be an entrepreneur? Venomous: I actually it came out of a necessity of needed photos and videos. I asked around to some friends and got some decent hook ups, but I wanted and felt that it was time for me to take matters into my own hands. I figured I would save money and time all around if just did my own thing. The same holds true to recording. Not trying to be better than anyone...just got to a point that I grew tired of feeling dependent on others. When you don't have the capability, then you are in a sense bound to someone else's time...I just wanted to do things when I wanted. credit was good..so I started V2GPhotography and had some good support from my brother BigBrothaTrey Justice: What inspires and motivates you, not only as an artist but as a person? Venomous: Spirit, Love, and Creativity. Knowing that tomorrow can and will be different from today, I always have something to look forward to, as long as I'm alive on this planet. Justice: Where do you see yourself within 5 years? Musically, geographically? Venomous: 5 years from now, I see myself being able to support myself and my family off of this music with shows and some albums sells. I envision being able to maintain my current 9-5, If I chose to, while still being able to generate a decent living expense off of my appproach to the arts. Most likely I'll either head a little out west or to the south. Maybe somewhere closer, like a nice little suburban area in Pennsylvania.  Justice: Considering the content of your music I know you're a very knowledgeable person, and I figured you may be a reader. So I wanted to ask if that's true and if it is, what book are you reading right now or have you read recently? Venomous: I've been slipping with my overall studies...but I'm in the process of getting back there. Just been picking up a lot of books on lighting, photography, and business development. But the current book I'm reading is by John Maxwell entitled "Make Today Count". Its his own personal testimony of how he became successful in all his approaches in life. Changed his perspective and his approach and ultimately changed his life and the life of his family and friends. Justice: What's something else you're really passionate about aside from music? Venomous: I like to collect books...Just to have them...I want a super library that I would need a ladder for to reach certain books. Ripped books, new books, stained books, clearance books...I probably wouldn't read them all, but somebody in need would have it on hand. Justice: What's one thing you'd like people don't know about you? (It could be anything) Venomous: I still want to have four more kids.  Justice: I read in another interview that you said you had communicated with beings beyond this world. Could you let the people know what kind of beings you're referring to and what the science is behind that?
Venomous: Well I was referring to the truth that I think all people know, which is we are not these bodies that we wear everyday. I don't even believe anymore, I know that we are spiritual beings having a human experience. I trust in my experiences enough to know that there are things that science won't be able to explain/prove 100%, some things that I won't be able to describe 100%, but I will be able to experience and feel them 1000% percent. Every indigenous culture on this planet had an understanding of their Ancestors and the realm/realms beyond this world. That truth hasn't changed, just that people's perspective and world views have changed, but that doesn't take away from the fact of the happenings taking place. They put it in movies to scare people away from it, they brainwash and get kids scared from a young age, they control the comfort we probably should be experiencing with that realm, but we've been taught fear. Fear of that unknown yet known world. So when I mentioned that I communicated with beings beyond this world, that's exactly what I mean, Ancestors, spirits, ghosts, energies, etheric beings, whatever you want to call Them, i've been open at times to have some blessings put things in perspective for me. I'm no spritual guru or anything like that, just a person that won't be led too far off the knowing that SPIRIT run this, and this physical is temporary and we can't hold on to it for too long. Want my daughter to be raised knowing that you do have some friends on the other side, when no one is around. I don't think anyone will ever live their life without having some experience that will make them "aware" of some other forces at work. I let people call it what they want, and come to their own conclusions. It really doesn't make me any difference, only thing i could tell people is...if you were there...you'd probably be singing a different tune. haha Justice: Before you come to Boston to wreck shop at The Formula 9 is there anything you'd like to say to the people?
