Wreck Shop Movement & Tragic Allies return to Lynn roots @ The Formula April 11th

Wreck Shop Movement returns to their roots at a new venue in the city of Lynn, birthplace of this expanding and evolving Hip Hop Movement. The Formula continues to unite the community and showcase the positive aspects of progressive Hip-Hop culture, making resource drives (food & clothing) for the homeless a part of every event. This month non-perishable food items can be donated at The Formula, benefiting My Brother’s Table at the Lynn shelter. This event had taken place at venues in Boston, Quincy, Beverly, Peabody and now The Fenix Discotec in Lynn, the home of the headliners, bar-heavy boom bap globetrotters Tragic Allies.
Picture
Tragic Allies, emerging leaders of the independent Hip Hop scene locally and nationally, return for a rare hometown performance after having recently expanded their reach across international waters. The Lynn crew, along with new crew member Paranom, recently returned from tour with Wu-Tang’s Killah Priest in Europe. While the crew's alliance has clearly helped them eclipse the sum of their parts and take a strong lead in the Hip Hop scene, any of the supporting acts at this edition of The Formula could easily step into that headlining role.

Sharing the bill with the Tragic Allies are New England Hip Hop representatives Golden Brown Sound, Relentless, Dirty Durdie, Oracle Thought, and Wreck Shop DJ G7 will be holding it down with a wealth of highly potent words and sounds all evening. DJ Mac will be in the house spinning breaks for the B-Boy cipher. Lynn’s resident wordsmith and wiseman Big Brotha Sadi will be guiding us on this journey through the sacred art of Hip Hop music. The show doesn’t stop at music though, featuring locally designed clothing, visual art, and food from Paaastelitos and Original Hip Hop Chocolates. Live painting by Jeremy Harrison of Black Feet Images and DaArtistZNT who will also be showcasing and selling art. Clothing for sale by Evil Genius Industries.

Since its inception, #TheFormula has become a twitter trend and buzz word not just in the Boston area but also beyond our state lines. Rhode Island, New Jersey and New York in particular have been showing us a lot of love!

Our last show in Quincy drew a crowd of around 125 people just through word of mouth and social media. So this month we anticipate an even larger crowd and hope you'll come out to join us for a great night of Hip Hop in Peabody!

The doors will open at 8pm and DJ Xpress, DJ G7 and DJ Sabertooth will be holdin it down on the 1's and 2's!

The Formula 11 Postponed til March 10th and Moved to Oliveiras in Peabody, MA!

The Formula 11 was cancelled by South Shore Music Hall 4 days before the show. The only reason we were told by the booking agent is that there is some city board meeting the club is going before and they think that having a Hip Hop show on their calendar of events will have a negative influence on the decision making process for whatever approval the club is trying to attain from the city. In other words...politics! We also lost out on $130 that the club won't reimburse us. Yea, we know that sucks but the show will go on! Supporters of the movement contributed funds to cover our loss so we just postponed the show til March 10th and moved to another venue... Oliveiras in (72 Walnut St, Peabody, MA). It's a nice venue with a buffet until 10:30pm. The capacity is around 300 so we're working towards packing the place. The floor is great for breakers too! We're having the flier edited and new ones printed a.s.a.p.! DJ Xpress will also be back from Florida so he'll be wreckin shop with DJ G7 and DJ Sabertooth throughout the night!

Stay tuned for more info!

The Formula - A Hip Hop Showcase

For those of you who missed it, sorry to hear that because it was a great time. Although this event was scheduled to take place in Salem at the Bangkok Paradise but as some of you know, the owner sold the business which left the show homeless for a couple days until we could find a new venue.

Thanks to G-Com we were able to find a decent spot in Beverly on Rantoul St called The Pickled Onion. It was a last resort, otherwise the show would have been postponed til some unknown date or canceled.

So things came together last minute, with only a digital flier and a few weeks of promotion. Tommy Shea with EaroDynamix Graphics hooked us up with a dope flier on the strength of gettin him and a few of his boys in the show for free. I think there was over 100 people at the show too but only 90 paid to get in. At the end of the night, the bar staff was happy, security was pleased and the owner welcomed us back to do another show.

Although we had some technical difficulties we kept things moving along. Not a bad turn out at all considering there were only local artists on the bill in an area where there's not usually Hip Hop shows happening. So I'd say we had a pretty good night and I have a feeling things are only going to get better from here. So stay tuned for more information of the next show... The Formula II.... Coming soon!

Here's where the idea for the show came from:
