Help keep #TheFreedomCypher FREE!
After a great turn out at the 3 year anniversary of The Freedom Cypher at the Democracy Center in Cambridge this past Sunday we've launched our first Kickstarter fundraiser. Our aim is to rent the whole first floor for the entire year of 2015 and keep the event FREE! Fortunately the Democracy Center which is a non-profit venue, has been good to us by not charging us rent for the past year. However, as we move in to the new year we have to seriously consider how we're going to pay for the space so we don't get bumped out of our usual time slot. One of the major risks we face without funding is not being able to guarantee where and when the cypher will happen, whereas paying for the space up front helps us secure our spot on the last Sunday of every month from 6 to 9pm.
The Freedom Cypher has become a staple in the local Hip Hop community and can only continue in 2015 with your help. We're confident we'll be able to reach our fundraising goal of $1500 and with 26 days to do it. If 100 people contributed $15 each or if 30 people contributed $50 we'll reach our goal! All of the money raised will go towards renting the space and buying stickers which each backer will receive along with other incentives for their contribution such as USB wrist bands fromProducers United, recording sessions and beats by Tommy Forge as well as promotions from Wreck Shop Movement & Producers United.
In addition to the cypher we are planning to utilize the kitchen and the other rooms on the first floor for vendors and artists to display their merchandise as well as continue the Solidified Sound Lab for recording cypher participants and The Vibrary (vinyl & cassette library) which are both still in early development. Essentially we're planning to transform the first floor of the Democracy Center into a "House of Hip Hop" for one night per month. If you'd like to see that happen, please help us spread the word and contribute if you can! Thank you all in advance!
