King RA Da Almighty

Raw and Aggressive is what comes to mind when I think of King RAs style. Like the Egyptian Sun God RA bursting with energy! I would highly suggest you all get familiar with this MC coming from Jersey City, NJ to represent at The Formula 10 in Quincy MA on Saturday, January 12th, 2013.

The first time I heard of King RA was about 6 months ago while watching videos of other New Jersey artists on youtube. We've been building bridges with some amazing talent from New Jersey since 2012 and after coming across King RA I knew he would make a good fit at The Formula showcase some time in the future.

With a few projects out over the past few years featuring some dope producers like so and so he's definitely worth checking for if you're not already tuned in!

Check out "Raid" off his most recent project
"Foot On They Necks"

Justice Born: Peace King! I just want to say thank you for taking the time to do this interview and we look forward to seeing you perform at The Formula 10! I'm feelin the music, the energy and you have some great videos! I'm really diggin the visuals in those.

I know you got a few projects out too such as The RA EPic, The Last Dragon EP and Foot On They Necks mixtape. What can the people expect from you in 2013?

King RA: Yeah, The RA EPic is the first project I ever released (2010), Foot On They Necks V.1 was the second (2011) and The Last Dragon EP is my third and most recent release (12/12/12). In 2013 the people can expect some quality videos to represent my singles off "The Last Dragon EP", they can expect Foot On They Necks V2 The Album, they can expect a LP produced by M.W.P. Beats titled "The Power Of RA", they can expect a year full of surprises because I'm not letting up.

Justice: Who can we expect to hear on the production tip?

King RA: I'm working with a gang of talented producers mainly from overseas that will be the new names to check for to have tracks produced by: DJ Brans, Bunty Beats, Red Ang, Sci Fi Stu, Verse All, Junior Makhno, Trilian, Astro Vandalist and the list goes on.

Justice: Will you be touring any time soon?

King RA: Touring is definitely part of my plans this year. Nothing set up yet but I am open to rock abroad whenever wherever. Promoters can book me for shows @ kingramanagement@gmail.com.

Justice: Speaking of shows, have you ever performed in Mass?

King RA: No, this would be my first time performing in Massachusetts so I'm excited about the opportunity.

Justice: Are you familiar with any Hip Hop coming out of Mass and if so, are there any Mass artists or producers you'd like to work with?

King RA: I'm familiar with Reks, Termanology, Akrobatic MC, Crumbsnatcha and a few other MC'S who rep the Bean. I'd like to collab with the homie Stu Bangas, he got them fire tracks, I could hear that collab happening.

Justice: Being from New Jersey can you tell me what the scene is like there? Ya'll got any Open Mics, Showcases or Ciphers?

King RA: Actually, the scene out here in Jersey is dry, doesn't have enough ciphers, open mics, and showcases. For the most part it's elsewhere I have to travel to get busy. There's a bunch of talented artists in NJ but without a doubt there is a lack of outlets for artists to rock. Thinking I'm gonna put together a monthly event out here to help the Jersey scene this year.

Justice: Word! I think that would be a great idea. Who are some artists or producers from NJ that you'd like to see get more shine?

King RA:
Out of fairness to all the talented MC'S and Producers I do know out here in Jersey I don't want to name any names. I wish all the artists and producers who are dope and striving to breakthrough in NJ much success, they deserve more shine .

Justice: I respect that. On another note, but in all relevance I noticed your name associated with a relief effort event for victims of Hurricane Sandy. Were you personally affected in any way?

King RA: I actually ended up not performing because I lost most all my belongings including flash drives, an external hard drive, and laptop with all my music on them. Yes, I was definitely affected by Hurricane Sandy. My apartment got flooded by 6 ft of water, lost a lot. Been staying at a hotel since November courtesy of FEMA and I'm still trying to pull myself together after Sandy. It's rough but I'm rebuilding my world better and stronger than it's ever been.

Justice: Sorry to hear about your loss. It's great however to see such a positive attitude shine through after all that and while you're still going through it. I know music certainly helps a lot of people get through lifes ups and downs. As far as music you listen to, who are some artists that have been catching your ear lately?

King RA: I listen to everybody from 2 Chainz, Trinidad James, Joey Badass, ASAP Rocky, Danny Brown, Action Bronson, Sean Price etc etc nobody in particular really. Doesn't mean I'm a fan of all I listed, it just means I'm listening.

Turn ya speakers up and listen to "Focus"

Justice: No doubt. Who were some of your musical influences coming up?

King RA: When I was growing up my moms used to play nothing but R&B so before I was properly introduced to hip hop I was a fan of Earth, Wind, & Fire, Teddy Pendergrass, Luther Vandross, Marvin Gaye, Patti Labelle, etc. Once I realized Hip Hop was who I was of course Kool G Rap, Rakim, BDK, KRS 1, Nice n Smooth, Public Enemy, Wu Tang, (too many to name) heavily influenced me.
Picture
Justice: That sounds like a lot of great musical influences. As an artist and just as a person, where do you see yourself 5 years? Do you have any non music related goals?

King RA: 5 years from now I will have made major contributions to music and the Hip Hop culture. Rhyming is only one thing I do. A big part of what I will be doing 5 years from now is focusing more on humanitarian works.

Some of my goals in the near future include the start of a record label, film making  invention, production, clothing lines, and other ways to diversify my brand.

Picture
Justice: What's one thing people probably don't know about you?

King RA: People probably don't know I'm gonna be one their favorite MC'S/Emcees in 2013.

Justice: Word! That's what's up! I'm sure you'll make quite an impression at The Formula 10. Once again King, thank you for doing this interview for the Raw Report and we look forward to seeing to rock the stage on Saturday!

King RA: Thanks for the opportunity. Looking forward to rocking out at Formula 10.
